On October 2, the proudly Bi-National Lewiston/NOTL (Niagara-on-the-Lake) Rotary Club hosted the US leg of the 2nd Annual Dr. Ron Mergl Memorial Pedal for Polio.
Aided by the Greenway and NY State Parks, the Club welcomed Rotary Friends from all over the US side of the District to participate in a ride from Hennepin Park to Fort Niagara in Youngstown, and a return to Lewiston, a distance of approximately 15 miles/25 kilometers.
By the end of the event, over $30,000 had been raised to aid in the eradication of Polio and contributions are expected to continue over the course of the week.
More than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries have been vaccinated due to the efforts of local and worldwide Rotary Clubs. At the present time, Rotary has contributed more than $1.8 billion toward eradicating Polio
